In 2011, in the city of Fortaleza, there will be built the world's largest and most modern Aquarium of Latin America and the southern hemisphere, it will be one of the most contemporary constructions of its kind in the world.

The 2014 FIFA World Cup will be held in Brazil from 13 June to 13 July 2014. The games will take place in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Brasília, Curitiba, Porto Alegre, Cuiaba, Manaus, Fortaleza, Natal, Recife, Salvador and Belo Horizonte.
Rio is the preferred city to organize the final game, while Sao Paulo is the favorite for the inaugural game.

Rio will be the headquarters of the 2016 Olympics and will also be the first time that the Olympic Games will take place at a South American city.
